Route

This leg takes us from the laid-back turquoise banks of the Turks & Caicos into the deep blue of the open Atlantic before reaching the lush and vibrant islands of the Caribbean further south. After departing Providenciales, we will aim for a weather window to make our first proper offshore passage towards Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico offers a great mix of culture, provisioning opportunities, and protected anchorages. From there, we continue east and south along the island chain, depending on weather and mood — potentially touching parts of the Spanish Virgin Islands or simply pushing on.

The second half of the trip becomes more about bluewater sailing. We’ll leave the more sheltered island chains behind and head down towards the ABC Islands off the coast of Venezuela. These islands lie outside the hurricane belt and offer a completely different landscape: dry, rugged, and perfect for exploration both above and below water.

Expect a mix of longer offshore passages and relaxed island time.

Activities

This is real liveaboard life — no fixed itinerary, no daily schedule, no pressure.

You are free to shape your days as you like. Go snorkeling over coral reefs, explore small coastal towns, jump in for a swim at sunrise, or spend a quiet afternoon reading on deck. If you work remotely, there will often be opportunities to get a few hours in. The trip has a strong focus on life in and around the water. Expect plenty of:

  • Snorkeling & freediving
  • Spearfishing (where permitted)
  • Fishing from the boat
  • Exploring anchorages by dinghy

We’ll share many of these moments together — cooking, sailing, navigating, and just enjoying the rhythm of life at sea. Longer offshore passages are part of this leg and will give you a real taste of bluewater sailing.

Travel to and from the Boat

Providenciales is well connected with international flights and easy to reach from North America and Europe. At the end of the trip, Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao all have good international airport connections, making departure straightforward. As always with sailing, plans can shift — flexible travel arrangements are strongly recommended.

Requirements

You do not need prior sailing experience. You should be comfortable spending extended time at sea and be open to longer passages. An interest in the ocean and underwater activities is highly encouraged, but no prior experience is required. You must be able to enter the relevant countries (Turks & Caicos, Puerto Rico / USA, and the ABC Islands). A positive, adaptable mindset is key — this trip is about embracing the journey rather than sticking to a fixed plan.
